Inducement is bait. After a new high, the first pullback leaves a low that many traders treat as safe. Price often sweeps that low before the real move, and until it does, the high is not confirmed.
After the new high, the first pullback makes the IDM low. Price sweeps it, and only then is the high confirmed and the next break above it a real BOS.
Valid pullback
A pullback is valid when it takes out the previous candle's low (in an uptrend) or high (in a downtrend). Small dips that do not do this are noise inside the leg, not structure.
Rules
After a new high, mark the first valid pullback low as IDM.
Do not trust the high or the next BOS until IDM is swept.
The area where IDM is swept often reaches a key zone, which is a good place to look for entries.
Common mistakes
Entering at the IDM low itself. That is exactly the bait.
